Maybe. But I tend to dismiss Paul Graham as the same class of blowhard as Eric Raymond and Philip Greenspun. Small code, large mouth.

I don't even credit Graham with as much code as Raymond, we only have Graham's word about how much code he *personally* wrote.

It probably came from one of the functional programming people through the Python bunch. The Pyhton folks tend to look down on a lot of the design patterns, too.
