A number of people are looking into solving the problem of having to know many different languages (perl/python/php, xml, css, sql, javascript) needed to build a modern web application and getting them to work together with their completely different design philosophies. One of the first areas of concentration (perhaps because it is the easiest) is to have the javascript generated for the client from the primary application programming language.
