MS had this evilness too, although a lot of the exception macro stuff was to deal with Win32's structured exception handling, which is subtly different from C++'s exception handling (yeah, that never caused a problem ;-).Maybe he's referring to early MS C++ stuff. I don't know so much about recent language versions, but I recall such macros from circa 91(?)-94.
