I think his quotes regarding art and engineering are particularly
inspiring/insightful. Forgive the youtube-ificatin at the end..
apparently somebody felt it their duty to "remix" in some unrelated
music in this particular instance.

Sometime, I suppose it was the early 1970's I saw a film of

" March 1960, 'Homage to New York', a happening with
a self-destructing machine sculpture in the garden of
the Museum of Modern Art in New York. of
a self destructive sculpture built by Jean Tinguley."

My ideas about what art was were changed forever. See

http://www.tinguely.ch/en/museum/jean_tinguely_follow.html

Theo Jansen has a sweeter vision than the apocalyptic darkness
of Tinguley nonetheless he is directly descended from the Swiss
master.

I love this stuff,

PS. Not quite the same but somehow related. Back in the
70's I lived at the cove in La Jolla in an old beach cabin with
a bunch of friends. Twas a great time. A lot like Tom Robbins
"Another Roadside Attraction." We would set up on a warm
evening near sundown in the park with a bunch of helium balloons
of all sizes. Sting them together like jelly fish and weight them
just right so they would be at almost neutral buoyancy. Just a
little bit positive so they would rise but only a foot every minute
or so ... then set them drifting into the sunset.

We could create all kinds of sculptural forms this way. Then send
them drifting slowly out to sea.

The main guy doing this was "the balloon man." I don't spend
summer evenings in La Jolla any more so I don't know if this
still goes on but for a few summers it was really great.
