That's because I was serious. At first glance, it seems like an insult
to non-emacs lisps.
I think the joke is intentional, and is much funnier for those who've worked with Common Lisp and Emacs Lisp (Common Lisp is *clearly* far more capable/powerful).
"inferior" here means "child process". It isn't an insult.

Ah, okay. That's an odd usage of the term "inferior", especially given
the more common interpretation of the word.

But I am not enlightened.
It's not really about enlightenment. Part of the key here is to have a sense of humor about it.
