I wonder if it has to do with the difficulty of the field.  As a physicist,
the most macho fields include general relativity and quantum mechanics.
I suppose people in those subfields are more prone to big egos.

Lisp to me is like the general relativity of programming languages.  You need
to know what you are doing to wield it effectively unlike Python.
