Only if you're not using XML as a markup language. Or if you don't
understand what belongs in attributes and what belongs in PCDATA, which
is not uncommon.
Having a distinction between "this is markup" and "this is end-user
data" is useful. You'd just have to reinvent it anyway using
specifically-named tags otherwise.
