I nearly have mutt functioning as I would like, but there is one glitch: when I send a message, the "From:" header shows "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" no matter what I try to change in the .muttrc. I have tried setting "from" to my actual e-mail address, etc., but it still sends me out as something other than my qualified e-mail address. I don't really see anything in the muttrc file that even has the string "Don W. Jenkins<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>", so I wonder if it is originating from Postfix or someplace else? Any ideas?
Yes, this is originating from your sending mail program, Postfix, if that is what you are using. I'm not sure how to fix Postfix, but on my machine, using sendmail, I had to specify the "MASQUERADE_AS" directive so that mail from my localbox looked like it was coming from my actual mail domain (sandiego.edu). You can also put this into your .muttrc file:
set from="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
though if Postfix is generating the from header, this will not have any effect.
