I am really new to this, but I noted the yum
application in my recent fedora core 3 install.

by keeping the yum repository aware of all the
installed rpm's, and my download sites, all I have to
do is type yum update, and away it goes....
I still keep an eye on the up2date
icon/button/thingy/indicator on the tool bar, but when
it goes from blue to red, I use the yum instead of
up2date - it works, because when I'm done, the up2date
indicator goes back to blue.

I really like this cuz I want to easily keep updated
stuff like mplayer&xine that fedora doesn't include.

I got the idea from http://www.fedorafaq.org/
Has a few ideas.....

AFAIK, it ought to work with any rpm based distro's.
