Do you believe that port 10000 is open? What happens if you telnet to it? Do you get a connection? Does netstat --listen show anything listening on it? If so you can run this command to see what is on that port: /sbin/fuser -n tcp 10000 Then kill the process or remote the server from the init scripts or whatever. As a last resort you can set up some iptables rules to block access to that port and you can also block the ip/netblock of the nosey network admins from talking to your computer. Of course I would only recommend that if you are SURE you know what you are doing. :) > Confidentiality Note > The information contained in this email message is legally privileged > and confidential information only for the use of the individual to whom > it is addressed. Thank you. <rant>I really hate this bandwidth and disk space wasting crap. Does your company make you do this? Did the company lawyer tell them that this actually did anything? Because I just don't see how I can be prohibited from redistributing an email mistakenly sent to me. It's not like we enter into a contract just because my machine accepted your misdirected email. I consider this sort of thing unprofessional since I believe it does absolutely nothing and only shows they never ran it by a lawyer.</rant> - -- Tracy R Reed http://ultraviolet.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFCyq/J9PIYKZYVAq0RAgqpAKCOPvezLX9qoyCHZ1pyPs9QftSO+wCffnsT +kjRSOCjrAwcCiIOc4rwH2w= =kJbE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-newbie
