Hi Charles..

Thanks for the acknowledgment (and [over-]confidence <heh>)

Your request list reminded me of a nice book I've since misplaced,
_Linux cookbook_ (Carla Schroder). The table-of-contents is available here
  http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/linuxckbk/toc.html

(ThatTechnicalBookstore.com claims to have one in stock.)

I really like the "cookbook format". It's particularly wonderful, if the
recipe happens to be what you want to "cook". Otherwise, I think it's
still generally useful because you can get the feel of how to solve a
nicely-specific problem. Often that's enough to suggest of how to
generalize to other problems.

In the past, I have found Craig Hunt's books helpful:

  _Linux Network Servers_
  _TCP/IP Network Administration_

I'm sure there are newer than these old stand-bys, my copies date to the
previous century!.

If you wanted to pick up any of these, Barnes and Noble or Borders seems
to be good places to look for in-store stock.

Anyway, if you do your best at installing and configuring (say)
 postfix
 bind
 cups
 apache

(I think all of the above will have been installed in any "server install")

then, I think someone (me or?) will be able to help review or
troubleshoot your setup.

If you need to do something out-of-the-ordinary, then you probably will
need to address such a need as a separate project and may need to
advertise for someone of appropriate expertise, as I'm JASTHA (just
another self-taught hacker-admin).
