Hmmm, my manpage only listed -k=POS . Is -k=POS1[,POS2] a recent
addition ? Doesn't really matter, that machine got blown away last night
for a full upgrade anyway, so the new(er) version of sort will be available
$ sort --v
sort (coreutils) 5.2.1
$ man sort
. . .
-k, --key=POS1[,POS2]
start a key at POS1, end it at POS 2 (origin 1)
New enough sort(1) that the old zero-based key specification does not
work at all. Version previous to that, it was deprecated. But even
then, there was $ sort +pos1 -pos2
to start at field pos1 and end at field pos2.
