Another guard against automated inputs is a Turing test (also known as CAPTCHA). I'm seeing more
and more of them these days.

The effort you expend all depends on how valuable the data is and how much of a problem it is when
you will inevitably get bogus inputs.

If he's using CAPTCHAs for a large bank, he needs to be very careful of the ADA. Captchas are not friendly to the blind.
