I still have my DEC AlphaStation in service.  I keep it around as it
was the first box I ran linux on (RedHat 6.2).  I brought it to a
KPLUG installfest and Carl Lowenstein helped me get it going.  It now
runs Debian and serves dns and some web for my domains.

My recollection:  this is one of the first "desktop" Alpha computers,
and is distinguished by heavy weight and large power consumption for
its size.  Probably not worth saving unless you are more of an Alpha
collector than anyone I know.  It's likely that if you attach a serial
terminal or equivalent to a serial port, and don't have anything on
the keyboard connector, you will get some boot-up messages indicating
configuration.
