Maybe they fixed that. Alls I know that when i first was building MythTV
boxes that you needed the proprietary drivers from nvidia for exceleration
to work, even on a regular monitor. By exceleration i mean Xv. And nv has
all the resolutions nvidia has? I mean i admit it's been awhile since i've
played around with just nv and not the proprietary drivers, but everything
always seemed to look better (just the desktop even) with the nvidia
driver.

And depends what nvidia card you have whether you can use the repositories
or not. I had the 8600 when it first came out on Ubuntu system, and you
couldn't use the Ubunutu restricted, plus the Ubuntu restricted had some
issues with certain things that i can not recall off the top of my head. I
used the nvidia driver from their website until I found Envy.
