You are misinformed. Don't confuse the speed of an interface with what the actual data transfer rate is from/to the hard drive. The actual parameter that should be of interest is the sustained data transfer rate from the disk, which is MUCH lower than the interface speed. A fast CPU with a gigabit ethernet interface can easily saturate a hard drive.
