Hi all,

I'm finally getting around to update to the jaundiced jackalope,
and to familiarize myself with python, java etc.

I notice that there are a lot of choices which java to pick
(FSF seems to advocate http://openjdk.java.net/ , but there's also the
Oracle semi-proprietary stuff ...)

Then, there's also the question what IDEs exist ...
eclipse and netbeans have been recommended to me,
and I'm wondering if there are ready-to-use (and maybe even
ready-to-configure) emacs modes for python, java, and maybe even
groovier things.

Confused as usual
Christoph
