As some of you may have heard, the June Linux Lab at the National City Adult School has been canceled. But not to worry, I have a great alternative for you. This is an open invitation to come to my house on Saturday, 6 June for a Linux Lab and BBQ.
What you need to bring: COMPUTER - see the checklist on the web site. I don't have all the nice extra stuff like at National City, so if you want it to work, bring EVERYTHING. Maybe a chair. I have a few plus Rich Ernst has volunteered to bring some tables and chairs. FOOD: I have a couple BBQ's (one charcoal, one gas) that you can use, plus some utensils. I'll also have plates and cups. BEVERAGES: As this is a private residence, you may bring adult beverages (e.g. beer) for personal consumption plus sharing. I'll provide a cooler with ice. Fair warning, you may want to ensure you get here earlier to make sure your helpers haven't had too many before they begin to "help". FAMILY/FRIENDS: Older kids are are OK but my house isn't kid safe. Location: 8774 Encino Ave San Diego, CA 92123 Phone: 858-565-1666 Time: 06 June 2009 10:00 till ??? This is one of the few times you can stay really late. There is one favor I would like to ask you. I'm working on a mesh networking project that involves 802.11s like in the OLPC project. If you have a laptop with a kernel/driver match here <http://www.o11s.org/trac> it would be great if you could join the mesh. There is a HOWTO here: <http://www.o11s.org/trac/wiki/HOWTO> I've had some success booting off a LiveCD for testing purposes, for example Ubuntu 9.04 and Fedora 11.
