Not selfish at all! One of the goals of the new site is to make it easy for presenters to upload their presentations. The way it will actually work is that their supporting materials will get attached to the event object and will always be searchable. That will let people look at past presentations and see what they missed, and will also let people easily search on particular topics.
Of course the good info from a presentation could also be stuck in as wiki pages. But the intent behind the new site is to blur the line a little between "info that is in the wiki" and "info that is on our website." It's all in one place now, the only difference is formatting. :)
