Just as an aside, I sent an email to Claude ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) today
asking what would be necessary for me to step into the Secretary seat of
the SDCS board.

One of the things I feel the SDMUG people were resentful of was that "nobody
else" was willing to fill the SDCS seats, and they were getting tired of
the double duty. I can wholely understand and appreciate that, and want to
do my part to give back to the organization that allows KPLUG and the other
SIGs to exist in the relative comfort we have.

Currently, the SDCS Treasurer board seat is also open to anyone willing to
step up for it. The current Treasurer would also like to step down, as she
is also the SDMUG Treasurer and doesn't really want to do double-duty. All
SDMUG members on the board (who were present) confirmed that they will all
continue to serve out their terms on the Board as long as necessary, and
won't simply abandon SDCS if SDMUG decides to officially succeed from SDCS.

We joked at the meeting about Rich Ernst taking the SDCS Treasurer's seat,
but someone outside of SDMUG should offer to fill the seat, both for
maintaining good relations with the SDMUG board members and furthering the
operations of SDCS.

I'm of the opinion that whether SDMUG splits from SDCS is basically
irrelevant, but there's no reason to stir animosity between the two groups,
and we all do really need to care a little more about the whole of SDCS.

Just my $0.02. :)

Why am I suddenly caring a lot more now? I'm finding my increased
involvement in KPLUG/SDCS as a valuable non-work activity in keeping myself
sane. Or maybe I'm already too far gone? Who knows.

Thanks for listening. :)

Gregory
