The inclusion of wiki pages in the leftside menu can be disabled in
(personal-toolbar) preferences
(leftside site setup menu) Navigation Settings
in section Displayed content types, uncheck Wiki Page
save
navigate back to wiki and refresh
OK, that gets rid of the big annoyance in the leftside menu.
