Review of
 non-functional
 misbehaving
 incompletely migrated
 disappointing-but-maybe-never-did-work-well-anyway
site features.

There is room for further cleanup of the leftside menu. Also accepting arguments for adding something to top navtabs (or ?) -- I (jgs) will spend time on these mostly cosmetic issues, but welcome suggestions. I include in this task reviewing the choice/control of detail items displayed in submenus, and identifying stale content that needs update or perhaps a change in strategy to avoid "staleness" (maybe something as simple as encouraging use of expiration dates).

Events/Calendar/Meetings needs attention: better integration, if possible? review (& docs) of the "smart folders" usage, maybe? somebody to be eventmaster, and take care of this stuff regularly?

News is largely unused. Seems like it might have some value -- can anybody articulate how? My (jgs) personal thought is that (so far) news and events seem to have had too much overlap, and we would be better off with just one or the other (instead of both).

Members is of course temporarily locked out. I haven't yet received any feedback to my posted questions whether the upgrades make us safe against the (current/last) exploit. I also referred to the cost in bogus accounts even of failed exploits. Perhaps a committee of 2 or 3 of proper experience levels might need to focus on this. Any volunteers?

Photo generates an exception that seems to be a known migration problem:
ImportError: import of "whrandom" is unauthorized
with a known fix
amend references to "whrandom" to "random" in
    ATContentTypes/skins/ATContentTypes/atct_album_view.pt
    CMFPhotoAlbum/skins/photoalbum_content/photoalbum_view.pt
(per http://dev.plone.org/plone/ticket/5104)
I (jgs) will try to deal with this issue, unless someone else beats me to it.

In ZMI
======
Plone Site -- probably not migrated or no post-processing magic?
 sdcs (San Diego Computer Society)
gives a "Site Error" via ZMI view/test tabs
  (or via www.kernel-panic.org/sdcs/)
ZMI objects that also point to migration difficulties:
portal_navigation (This object from the CMFPlone product is broken!)
portal_form (This object from the CMFPlone product is broken!)
portal_migration (Handles migrations to newer Plone versions)
-- has an exclamation mark and a 2005 date

Plone Site kplug-main:

Members (aside from context of current attacks):
-can we determine (create) a last access date mechanism
-last non-FrontPage access might be also be useful (for detecting parasites)
-should we ask members that have been absent for N months to reconfirm (else we drop them). -should we worry about future content of Members pages, or keep a watch for exploit mechanisms?

pages needing update or archiving or relocation
bookstore (That Technical Book Store) -- content needs update
embedded (Embedded System Conferences) -- out-of-place at top level?
kp_fq1_20060807.pdf (kp fq1 -- out-of-place (SB: a survey form?)

simpleblog_tool (This object from the SimpleBlog product is broken!)
- did I not see a log entry somewhere that said this feature was dropped? Maybe it's just on-hold?

contrib (User Contributed Files)
-hmmm, could use cross-references to here from various wiki pages
-does anyone have a good explanation to the possible newbie question "how does contrib differ from wiki from Members pages?"

=OK= I'v gotten tired of this, I'll continue another time.
