64-bit has had it's growing pains, but I think most common stuff has
finished the transition, at least in the fedora world.

Which brings up the question of distro (or distros).

Q1. I made a suggestion of having a small emergency distro installed in
addition to the normal OS. Does anyone think this is worth it?

Q2. What do we need:
 - solid security features (kindofa given, these days, isn't it?)
 - good support for mail list operations
 - good support for web and plone
 - best remote management reliability and convenience
 - any legacy or backward-compatibility needs?
 - ? (good platform for future experiments) ?

Q3. Is debian or debian-based the acknowledged lead OS contender?
 - is ubuntu in the running? (maybe Ubuntu LTS, Long Term Support)
 - is there any argument for RH/Suse alternatives

Q4. Are there app choices to discuss? App-OS considerations?

Regards,
..jim
