Is your hard drive dying? If so, I'm pretty sure I have a spare 2.5" laptop hard drive that I saved from a previous Thinkpad upgrade. If memory serves, it's only 10-20GB, but it might do the trick. If you think that'd help let me know - I'll have to double check its existence when I get to my office, but otherwise it's yours if you want.
