I spoke with the late Ken Rand when I bought my plans. I informed him that my partner and I were going to build 2 or more planes. It didn't phase him a bit and as regards the serial numbers, he suggested that I add any suffix or prefix that I desired to the existing number on the plans book. I have actually completed 3 KRs and have a 4th in the shop at present. The FAA has never questioned the serial numbers that we fabricated. Ken told me that there were many flying clubs and EAA chapters around the country doing multiple planes with a single set of plans.

As long as I scratch build? On Apr 9, 2013 10:08 AM, "Lee Van Dyke" <lee at vandyke2.com> wrote: > I don't think J. Rand gave up any records, most are in file cabinets in > her garage.
