I appreciate the responses...here is a picture of what I have come up with so far. I flipped over the pedals on the assembly I had and added an extension to the pedals to attach the cylinders to the pedal side. I spread the pedals apart wide enough to clear the cylinders ok. I like the idea of attaching a fixed part of the pedal and I think I will do that before I fix it in place.
