I attended the Australian AusFly weekend a week or so ago and my KR2 clocked
over it's 500 hours mark on arrival at the fly in.

I now have 507 hours on the clock.
The VW type 4 belt drive 100hp is running the best for some time. I was
always concerned with the twin 150 CD carbs operation as it had an unusual
sound and ( hard to explain) roughness at FULL throttle. I purchased TWO new
old stock Carbs from the UK EBay over hauled them, and found that the
original carbs had two different metering needles in them. One exhaust was
always darker in colour than the other. I got a new needle from the UK the
same number as the grey running exhaust, the engine is now,so far is great.

Building up date

KR2SS.

The 0200 in stripped down, I have all the parts with new pistons and gudgeon
pins fitted, it has been balanced, and will need assembly soon. Still
thinking about professional assembled Certified engine or just do it all my
self cost ( $6000 labour to certify or even $4000 as assembled Experiment
engine by a professional) need the to make an engine mount and cowl.

I made new wing templates and set the fuse up level. got out the old laser
and set the rear spar in position and glues it into place.

I have filled the marks in the fuse ply from all the staples and dints
removing the staples, I will have to invert the fuse soon to seal the ply
and get ready for under coat
.
I now have a complete fuselage and will start on panel next i hope.

I am looking at seat design now, and want something that is much more
comfortable then the sling seat in my KR2.

I may just add another page or two to my existing web page to include my
KR2SS, but have not yet done so. http://www.philskr2.50megs.com/

All the best to you all.

Safe flying and may you always have a tail wind.

Phil Matheson
