I used existing holes where the original retract gear mechanism was mounted in the center, to mount a plate to which the stick mechanism is mounted. This is the best pic of it that I could find, quickly.

If I could do it over again, I'd add extra spruce blocks inside the spar on 8" centers for the job, and leave the caps alone. That's what I did for the center stick, but that doesn't help me now.
