I agree these are learning platforms. As to the effect, I think of how minimal stall strips are and yet they have a major effect. BTW, the F4U Corsair, arguably the best piston fighter ever made, had a dangerous tendency to snap-stall the right wing under a couple different conditions during landing on a carrier and during a abort when power is suddenly added. A 6" stall strip added to the left wing changed the whole situation for the better. Someone mentioned affecting the structure of the wing, and I would also be concerned about creating a stress point at the corners of the openings for these things, from which a crack could extend. Need to strengthen and round the corners I would think.
