I was looking at the carb discussion etc, and wondering what engine Ken Rand
had on the original KR1 and then the first few upgrades. I *thought* I read
somewhere that he started with the smallest 1100 cc bug engine. I also found a
mid 70s flight test of I think his KR1 with a 1700cc engine. Also wonder what
happened with regard to crankshafts, that extra bearing support, and any other
major weak points on a stock bug engine. What carburetor was used originally?
When did RR start making that sweet 3 blade ground adjustable prop, and
when/why did they stop? I'll keep digging through the archives but maybe
someone knows the history. Would be interesting winter discussion if nothing
else.
