For steam gauges:

Altitude Encoder, Altimeter & VSI are tied into the static lines
Airspeed is tied into both static & pitot

This should be done via a plastic pipe-thread to hose-barb adapter. Can't
say if it's supposed to go where the plug-with-hole is on your perticular
altimeter....

Since static pressure inside the cabin can be mildly different from that
outside the plane, you should not rely on inside-cabin pressure for your
primary static source (it can be OK as an alternate, however, if you equip
your plane with an alt-static valve).
