The agency formerly had two 1950s Bombardier CL-215 airplanes but it was becoming increasingly difficult to find parts to maintain them. Dry, windy conditions across the state have resulted in an increase in wildfires; DNR Wildfire Suppression Supervisor Ron Stoffel said crews had responded to 50 or 60 different fires last Thursday alone.
