Dear David,
I sure like to have a copy of the quadrant gear lock system. And which 1/4
plate alu quadrants were replaced with steel? Are the plate gear legs also of
steel, and work as additional shock absorvers?
With many thanks?Yoshio Morino,Hamburg

 Betreff: KR> collapsing gear

First flight on my KR-2 was in 1984, built pretty much to plans including the
original gear. Did not trust the mouse trap spring down lock latch. Norm Taylor
of HAPPY ENGINES came up with the solution. a pin lock quadrant gear lock
system.? Over the years I had to make other improvements: 1/4 inch steel main
gear hinges, and replace the 1/4 inch plate aluminum quadrants with 1/4 inch
steel; plus 1/4 inch welded cold rolled plate gear legs.

Almost 1500 hours on the meter and hundreds (thousands?) of take offs and
landings does take a toll on the retract system.? I can supply copies of the
quadrant gear lock system if needed.

In closing I have to say that the retract system has saved me from probable
injury and prevented serious damage to the aircraft by collapsing during a few
excursions off the runway and into the ruff ,and on one occasion into a snow
bank.
