My thoughts exactly Mark. FWIW, I just got a new Yaesu FTA-750 handheld as a backup. For those looking to fly with only a handheld it is a really good option since it has VOR and localizer built in and even glideslope and GPS. The only two handhelds that have full ILS with glideslope now are the Yaesu and the Sportys. The Sportys cost is just a little bit less, but that is the base radio with alkaline battery tray and no other accessories. The Yaesu comes with rechargable battery, charger, alkaline battery tray, headset adapter, belt clip, cigarette lighter adapter, etc. Sportys gets expensive when you start adding the options.
