I used a Brother hand held printer. This machine uses 1/2-inch wide vinyl tape, any length you need. Letters in different fonts, numbers and symbols are easily done in 5 sizes on clear or white background on sticky tape with black characters. Once laid down on a clean surface, these tapes stay stuck. Other colors are available, but I only used the black characters. The Brother printer is available from Staples, Office Depot and other office supply stores, $39.95 plus the tape cartridges.
