Hello all, I was convinced there was a running Revmaster 2300 mounted on the KR2S unfinished kit and later determined the engine is actually a VW 1835 HAPI. None the less I have ordered the overhaul manual and will be taking this thing apart to make sure all is well. It runs nice now but it doesn't have any books and that's not good enough for me at anything AGL. Fortunately I know an A&P that will supervise and sign of on the rebuild but he is not familiar with the characteristics and performance. That being the case, I thought this thread might be read by someone with an 1835 pulling them through the skies. That made me think, maybe, some of those same readers, or others will first hand knowledge of this version of VW could share their knowledge of issues and/or performance expectations they get from theirs. My research up to this point had been regarding the 2300. I do know HAPI is no longer in business however parts are available. That being the case I can find very little information on what these 1835 bugs can do when attached to a KR2S.
Love to hear from those willing to share knowledge and experience. Best, E.
