Wow. I fixed the iFly glare issue for less than $5 and 10 minutes of my time to
trim a generic anti screen cover.

FWIW, I thought the iFly 720 was painfully slow booting. The touch screen had
chronic mapping issues depending on the temperature. And mine finally lost
it's mind needing the boot PROM to be re-flashed. iFly had chronic problems
with the vendor they were buying the touch screens from, then had to change
vendors once they found the ones they were selling were so unreliable. Yeah,
they took a pretty good black eye for it. But they got it right with the iFly
740. I beat on iFly a bit about an upgrade until they gave me a decent trade
up for my 720 towards an iFly 740. I did have to spend another 10 minutes and
a few centavos to buy and cut another anti-glare screen cover, but the iFly 740
has a much brighter screen (significantly brighter than my android), boots up
much faster, and has been rock solid. I have had my Android go belly up a few
times with the sun through the canopy. The iFly 740 has never had a hiccup.

As I stated in a previous post, the Androids/iPads have some advantages over
the Aviation GPS hardware, but they have some distinct disadvantages as well.
I almost always fly with one of each in the KR. I've only got space for one in
the SuperCub, so the iFly 740 is the one I choose to rely on.

But, as was also previously stated by Larry. This is all feel-good fuzzy stuff
you don't need to fly. I had a lot of fun 40 years ago flying coast-to-coast
in a non-electric plane navigating by WAC chart and my MK 1 eyeballs.

"Two years later, at about 200 hours of use, the touch screen went south, to
the extent that the unit was unusable, requiring another repair, which cost
me about $140. This is not an uncommon issue either, as I know several folks
who've had the same problem. When I got it back, my non-glare screen
protector was missing (it went with the touch screen) and the screen was so
highly reflective I could barely see it. So then I had to order another
non-glare sheet and cut it to fit, since iFly doesn't even sell one to fit
their unit! Yes, whine, whine, whine!"

Why I dumped the IFLY. When it first came out, it boasted of a non glare
screen, and, indeed, it was. I had a problem ( Locking up ) and sent it
back for a replacement. When it came back, the non glare was gone. I had
many conversations with them about this, to no satisfactory conclusion for
me.

I don't like Ipad for the same glare issue, but they never said they were
non glare either.

I love my SkyView and with the options available right now, I would not
trade it for any of them.
