If you have questions about the Corvair, or need to find an engine for sale, you definitely need to join the "CorvAircraft" list by sending an empty email to [email protected] . There's a whole lot more info on the Corvair as installed in an S on my Corvair website at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/ . As for one that's actually FLYING, there's not a KR2S flying a Corvair YET, but there will be several shortly. There ARE two KR2s flying behind a Corvair, one belonging to Steve Makish, and the other belongs to Bob Lester, both of Boca Raton, FL. I just talked to Steve, who gave me a detailed update. He has about 75 hours on his so far, a "stock" 2700cc with OT-10 cam built following William Wynne's manual's recommendations. He's been through several different carburetors, but is now very happy with an Ellison EFS-3. Wide open at low altitude, he gets about 175 mph at 3350 rpm, burning about 6.5 gallons/hour of 93 octane (9:1 compression ratio). He's running a Prince 52 x 66 "P-tip" prop, and his plane is a little heavy at 805 pounds. He's working with Sterba on a new prop and expects to go faster when it's "dialed in". Right now, at 70% power, he does 150 mph burning 4.6 gallons per hour. Although he has a Facet electric pump, he says the Ellison runs fine on gravity from the header tank, even if the Facet is turned off. Steve has flown behind Type 1 and Type 4 VWs, a Subaru, and now the Corvair (all in the same plane), and he's quite happy with the Corvair. His installation can be seen at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/snf2002/ . This guy is a wealth of infomation as to what works and what doesn't on the KR2. He's just joined the list so if there are questions, he can probably answer them... Mark Langford, Huntsville, AL N56ML "at" hiwaay.net see KR2S project at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford
