Larry, Many thanks for the info...good stuff to mull. I have two boat trailers now, one is for the Starcraft (boat) and is dedicated. The available is a tandem axle originally built for an Owens 26'. It is a bunch of overkill but has good electric brakes and can be brought down considerably in weight by shortening and losing some of the cross braces. Since I'm used to hauling a 5000 LB boat a little extra heavy trailer wouldn't be a problem and could offer a little extra protection on rough highways.
Have thought of a platform mounted on shock absorbers but I think the springiness of the gear (Dan Diehl tri), built for a bump or two on landing, should be all of the help in that department. Am especially concerned about a good wing carry rack...or system. Saw a plane tow wreck on the freeway a couple of months ago where one of the detached wings was off the trailer and became roadkill. I don't think there was an accident...just looked like the wing had come off of the trailer, sloppy tie down or something. Any photo really would be appreciated. Again, thanks for your help.
