Colin, If you put a Facet in line, it will work well with an Ellison and an 1835. That is exactly the set up that I had on my first KR. However, I ran the pump all the time. I did turn it off to see if it ran OK on flow through gravity and it did. Check it out and make sure you are satisfied with the results.
