Thanks all I got 2900 rpm with still about 1 inch throttle to go.My timing
marks will be confirmed and adjustments made later with a strobe.The engine is
new,re-manufactured by the VW factory with a years warranty,still tight,and I
will open up for longer periods later.Leaning the mixture improved the revs. as
well.I am using SAE 30 oil for now.The engine has only done one hour and I have
heard that after a period of running in the oil can be changed to 20W-50
multigrade.Any ideas in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
