Couple more answers to numerous questions I have received off list.  The 
Dynon unit is totally self contained.  If you don't have interference 
problems in your panel for less than $100 you can install a remote 
magnetrometer.  Inside the case for attitude information are  3 solid-state 
gyrometers and 3 solid-state accelerometers.  Heading comes from 3 
solid-state magnetometers.  Airspeed, altitude and AOA are obtained from 
three pressure transducers.

Put this in the panel, power to pins 1,2,14 and ground to 3.  Screw in pitot 
and static and go fly.  If you do have a transponder, it outputs gray code 
for altitude that the transponder can use so you don't need an encoder.
