OK, the net has been busy with Red Oak messages here lately so here is
change of pace. BTW, after attending several gathering and host it twice, I
must say, if you are interested in the KR airplane or simply want to hang
out with some great people who share similar interests, do not miss the
gathering. Just get ready to start building, or get back to building, when
you leave:-)

I am going to have to miss this years gathering. I am on the staff of a
AAAA high school football team. My commitments to that endeavor preclude me
from attending. Have a great time.

OK, let the slideshow begin.........this has been a fun week.

Here is a shot from the front. It's all come together.

And finally............I GOT TO MAKE AIRPLANE NOISES!!

I got my fuselage kit on July 2 and have missed out on about 10 days of
building, not including the 6 days for Oshkosh. I will end up having my
fuselage to the quickbuild stage in less than 2 months (a savings of
$3500)............did I mention.............I have the "slow build"
variety:-) You gotta love it.

Although most builders have the fuselage upside down at this stage, it has
been much easier for me to build it rightside up and just lean over, instead
of crawl under. I used two sawhorses and an adjustable roller as my third
sawhorse. When I got it all together I put the Smart Level on it. From
firewall to aft bulkhead it was 2/10 of a degree out. A rear deck is
installed later and is used to "straighen things up". I'm not sure I can do
any better than 2/10 of a degree with a drill and rivets, I'm going to try
though:-) After this I fabricated two false spars and bolted those onto the
center carrythrough, put casters on the bottom and stood in on it's "gear"
for the first time. In the pictures above. the top longeron is sitting 6/10
of a degree tail low for level flight attitude. I'll remove the casters and
adjust the tail height when I get to the stage of installing the wings for
incidence setting. I plan on a good weekend of work with final drilling,
removal, deburring, dimpling, priming and reassembly. By next weekend, I'll
have it all riveted together.
