Netters,
Someone recently asked if Willie Wilson was going to be at the Gathering. I don't think Willie would mind if I included a portion of a personal e-mail I received from him today. I've clipped out the personal parts and hope you will enjoy the story of a recent flight he planned with his friend Dave Mullin, a retired police officer and builder and flyer of a KR 2 which he sold after loosing his medical. I believe the current owner of Dave's KR may be a member of the net. Dave also attended one of the Gatherings in Kentucky. Those of you that have met Willie at past Gathering will appreciate his story telling. Larry Flesner +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi Larry Are you all ready to fly the KR to Red Oak? Now that the time is approaching I wish we were able to come but instead I am bashing the ivories preparing to entertain the guest at my nephews wedding. My sister Mary, [have I ever mentioned Mary before?] has agreed to help share the load and play the piano/organ for a little while too. She's absolutely wonderful. Only last week Dave Mullin and I were to rendezvous at a country airport to partake of a cup of tea in proper and dignified English manner. That means he was paying! Me being just an uncultured Scot, a barbarian from the north, was happy to accept. His micro-light is a mite slower than a Kr so I was not surprise that the apron was bare when I taxied in. No T 2 day! Engine seized! Dave announced my mobile phone. What a lame excuse! I would have to buy my own tea! Dave described the scene graphically especially the sudden loud silenced. Cindy, had less to say!! I hurried back and helped de-rig the machine and return it to the hangar. The engine [a two stroke] is on its way back to Italy already. Fortunately, it is still under warranty, but not good for confidence as his is the third one this year in the UK to seize after just 70 hrs. Dave is not TOO worried as he has already taken delivery of another type of [a Kit] which has a decent four stroke engine! ( Willie )
