Threre's nothing wrong with laminating a strip onto the vertical stab spars. I had to do it because mine wasn't glued on exactly vertical (a result of the boat "creation" phase). If you've done your wings, you should have lots of such strips laying around, most of them already tapered. If not, maybe you should start making spars, and then the proper wood strips will magically appear. This is also a good opportunity to make sure your vertical stab spars are really vertical. If not, just add a thicker strip to one side, and you've killed two birds with one stone...
