Brian,
It would seem to me that this is similar to prelubing a new engine. I would 
find a way to pump up the oil pressure without spinning the engine, to prelube 
all that the oil can reach, and then squirt some 5w30 or 10w30 oil down the 
spark plug holes, say 1/2 and ounce, and then rotate the engine by hand. I 
would use this opportunity to see if it is frozen, how the resistance feels, is 
it uniform, or does the engine "catch" at any point, and to circulate some of 
the oil. Then fire it up.
