This engine, in its military trim as an O-335, was 277 lbs. (see http://home.adelphia.net/~aeroengine/Franklin.html ). That puts it quite a bit heavier than even the Corvair, O-200, and most Subarus (except maybe Les Palmer's, but he's got air conditioning on his).
