Sorry to bug y'all with this, but it's purely out of self defense. I get about two messages a week (forwarded to me as the administrator) from irate subscribers wanting to know why they can't post to the list. They are usually agitated, have nothing nice to say, and are convinced that I've deliberately trampled their God-given right to post the list for some reason. You might remember my buddy JOSANDT who all but hired a hit man to kill me for that same reason. He's the only guy I've ever banned from the list forever, and it took him about six weeks of perseverance to accomplish that. The truth is that it's a real pain to fix it so that somebody can't post (but can still read), so I don't think it's EVER going to happen. That's called "moderated", and I'd have to OK every message the guy ever sent to the list, and I'd get an message to approve the message every time, and that's even worse than letting the guy post.
Anyway, my point is that if all the sudden you find that you can't post to the list, 98% of the time it's because you've gone out and gotten a new email address and are trying to post from the NEW address, which won't work until you subscribe the NEW address! This is an anti-spamming mechanism that keeps just anybody from posting to the list, only subscribers. It's just that simple. Now you might want to receive with one and post from another, or some other such madness, or be able to send from both, but only receive from the other, or get the digest at work and individual messages at home. To change how your account works it's as simple as visiting http://www.krnet.org/instructions.html if you're on KRnet, or http://www.krnet.org/corvaircraft_inst.html if you're on CorvAircraft. If you forget how to get there, just follow the link at the bottom of a post, and you'll find at least one (maybe 3 or 4) link to "list instructions". This is also the way you UNSUBSCRIBE...just follow the "instructions link"! And while I'm on my soapbox, I just don't get how it is that people can't figure out other folks' email addresses. Surely somewhere (like "properties" for the message) there's a way to figure it out. Maybe if you hit "reply all" you'll get both the original sender and the list, and you can delete the list from the "TO" field. Somehow, I hope you'll all figure out a way. Personally, if I had an email system that wouldn't do that, I'd dump it and go to Outlook Express. In Express you just highlight a message, click on FILE up at the top, and PROPERTIES, and you'll be shown the original sender's email address. Cut and paste it (put cursor at one end, press and hold left button, slide to highlight the whole thing and release, and then hit CTRL and C at the same time to copy) and then paste it into the TO box (put cursor in TO box, hit CTRL and V at the same time). Or you could just do what I do, which is save every message for at least six months. That way you can do a search (FIND) a message with the guy's last name in it (assuming he's decent enough to put his name on his posts) and you'll turn it up. It would be nice if people would put their email addresses in their "signatures" at the bottom of their posts, even if you camouflage it some (like N56ML "at" hiwaay.net ). Hope this helps, and thanks for listening... Mark Langford, Huntsville, AL N56ML "at" hiwaay.net see KR2S project at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford
