My pitot/static is pretty much "plans" design. I mounted mine
in the lead edge area of the left outer wing panel just forward
of the spar and it seems to perform o.k. I made my last flight
with a set of C-150 wheel pants installed. They came within
about three inches of the P/S tubes and did not seem to change
my readings at all. If you're wondering how the geometry on that
can be, I have an 8 foot wide main gear track. My mains are
very nearly under the wing attach point. I have extra length
tubing so I can hook it up when attaching the wing and the
extra length just coils in the wing.

The unit is located so that the lead edge of the tubes are still
behind the lead edge of the wing to lessen the chance of
getting damaged on the ground.

Good luck.
