Hi Ron Your engine with EFI system looks, and your discription sound impressive. I would still guess that the total added weight for your engine system is going to be near the 300 pound mark. How much does your reduction drive weigh. Mind you I did say it is a quess. As for my engine installation, well, I have been flying behind it for neary 20 years. I do have some concern about the added prop weight, and only time will tell. A lot of us picked the KR because we wanted more bang for the buck. If I had it to do over I would probably make the same choises. If I ever choose to reinvest in an engine I will probably look at both the O-200 and the Corvair. Again it's about bang for the buck. Some builders have managed to get KR's flying for under $2000. Unlike twenty years ago, all sorts of engine options including yours is available. I have a professional engine builder who has given me a heads up that he has an O-200 that he has completed and wants $7700 US. Yours is admittedly on the high end of the scale. If money is not an object, it would seem an inviting option. Todays builders are installing everything including glass cockpits in the little birds. And yes Ron Todays dollar does not go as far as it used to. My KR was simple and not ment to be expensive. I may dream and wish for more horse power, but the reliability of my gravity carb and Bosch 009, have endured the test of time. Perhaps when my ship comes in I might consider other engine options, even one that costs over 13,000 in US dollars. At the present time that amount equals on year at my daughters college.
Thanks for the inside information about your engine. I would like to know more about the reduction drive. P.S. my name is Orma, and not Omar Orma L. Robbins Southfield MI 19 Years flying KR-2 N110LR http://www.aviation-mechanics.com
